Construction and Materials
The Live and Sleep luxury mattress is a 12″ mattress made up of 3 layers of memory foam.
- 2.5″ Top Comfort Layer – This layer is 2.5″ of responsive memory foam designed to provide body hug and ensure provide pressure relief.
- 1″ Transition Layer – This layer is 1″ of gel-infused memory foam that provides cooling and aids in transitioning motion between the upper and lower layers.
- 8.5″ Support Layer – This layer is 8.5″ of high density performance base foam that provides support for the mattress as well as deep compression support for the body.
The cover of the the Live and Sleep mattress is soothing fabric selected by hand to ensure its welcoming soft touch, flexibility and also perfectly contours to your body’s shape.
The removable and washable cover is designed to complement the conforming memory foam mattress construction.
Firmness & Support
The Live and Sleep Luxury mattress is a universal comfort mattress, and only comes in one firmness option, which we feel it at a 5-6 out of 10 (10 being the firmest).
The Live and Sleep mattress compresses down a bit more for me, as I am significantly heavier than Kaye, and I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the support layers in most mattresses.
Kaye felt the Live and Sleep felt great to her and was was the perfect firmness, as she likes mattresses on the firmer end of the spectrum usually and also weighs half what i do!
In terms of support, The Live and Sleep mattress does a decent job of providing good support in all sleeping positions.
As we are primarily side sleepers, we like mattresses that provide enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, without making them feel stiff or painful during sleep.
The Live and Sleep Luxury mattress does a great job at supporting our side sleeping preference, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
Comfort
The Live and Sleep mattress initially feels rather cushioned and soft to me, but due to my heavier weight (230lbs) I did notice I compressed through the comfort layers and generally felt the firmer underlying support foam more. The nice 12″ thick mattress did not cause me to “bottom out” and feel the underlying mattress foundation, which tends to happen with thinner 10″ mattresses.
The Live and Sleep is an all foam mattress, so it gives the hug and body contour that memory foam is known for, without feeling “trapped in foam” that some all foam mattress tend to do.
The foam comfort layer combined with the transition layer both work well together to provide the classic memory foam feeling while at the same time providing a small degree of responsiveness, albeit a lot less than a latex hybrid mattress or hybrid coil mattress.
The underlying support layer does a good job at supporting our bodies and providing that deep compression support as well.
Sleeping Hot
So the Live and Sleep mattress does a decent job at providing cool sleep, but due to the all foam construction and no cooling technology in the layers there was some heat retention. We felt a small amount of heat when sleeping together on the mattress, which is common for all foam-constructed mattresses in our experience.
There wasn’t enough heat produced to wake up feeling sweaty or sticky, but due to the fact that we sleep as a couple and live in Texas, heat retention is a big issue and something that we like to see all foam mattresses making an attempt to prevent.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The Live and Sleep mattress does a pretty good job with sinkage and motion transfer, about in line with most mattresses we have reviewed. As we always preach, sinkage (and motion transfer) is largely weight dependent, and as I weigh around 230 lbs I tend to compress and sink lower in most mattresses.
Kaye, who weight half what I do, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but again this is to be expected due to her much lighter weight. With the Live and Sleep Luxury being a nice thick 12″, I didn’t experience significant sinkage compared to thinner foam mattresses.
With the Live and Sleep we noticed that any movement by me during the night wasn’t felt by Kaye much at all. The all foam construction does a good job at preventing motion transfer, although the responsiveness of the mattress is a bit lower as well.
Edge support is pretty good with the Live and Sleep luxury mattress, a bit better than most memory foam mattresses we have reviewed. I slept near the edge at times to test this and did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges or having them compressed under my weight.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The Live and Sleep had an average amount of off-gassing when taken out of the box and packaging, which can be expected from an all foam mattress. The odor dissipated within a night and was nothing out of the ordinary compared to many similarly constructed mattresses, and was about average.

Summary
The Live and Sleep luxury mattress is a great all foam mattress that is affordable and comfortable and a good value compared to other mattresses on the market today.
The combination of foam layers used in the design of the Live and Sleep mattress work together to provide a very comfortable yet supportive mattress that is ideal for all sleeping positions. The Live and Sleep is actually quite good at handling heavier sleepers due to its 12″ all foam design that isolates motion and minimizes sinkage as well.
The Live and Sleep mattress provides the classic memory foam feel of body hug and contour without feeling trapped in the foam like other all foam mattresses, albeit with a bit of trade-off of less responsiveness from the all foam construction.
All in all, the Live and Sleep is a very solid memory foam mattress that we recommend for both individuals as well as couples who like the feel of memory foam and don’t want to spend too much on a mattress.
