Our BioPosture mattress review highlights this exceptional mattress which we have slept on for the last month. BioPosture is unique in that its mattresses have been prescribed by thousands of doctors over the last 7 years, so they know a thing or two about building a great mattress and aren’t just another “me too” Bed-In-A-Box mattress vendor.
BioPosture was developed in consultation with top sports doctors and chiropractors to provide the optimum in orthopedic support, superior sleep and enhanced recovery from the stresses of activity and every day life.
They are unique in many ways, one of the most important is the use of Celliant in their cover which has been proven to provide health benefits from infrared energy.

Construction and Materials
The BioPosture mattress is an all foam mattress made up of 3 layers of memory foam. It comes in either 10″ or 12″ (Queen and King size only) It is comprised of the following layers:
- A 2″ Top Comfort Layer – This layer is 2″ of proprietary BioMemoryFoam designed to provide comfort and ensure cooling during sleep.
- A 2″ Middle Layer – This layer is an additional 2″ of proprietary BioMemoryFoam designed for responsiveness and support.
- A 6 or 8″ Support Layer – This layers is 6″ (or 8″ for the 12″ mattress) of therapeutic base foam that provides support for the mattress as well as deep compression support for the body.
One of the biggest selling points of the BioPosture mattress is the use of Celliant® in the cover. Only one other mattress we have reviewed uses this unique material besides BioPosture, and that is Bear Mattress which we also like quite a bit.
Celliant® is reported to convert and recycle body heat as infrared energy to support improved blood flow and oxygen delivery to body tissue.
In clinical studies Celliant® has been shown to speed recovery from injury or pain and to support health and wellness by improving blood flow which increases oxygen delivery to body tissue.
The use of such innovative technology sets Bioposture apart from its competitors and is also part of the reason that its mattresses are doctor recommended.
Firmness & Support
The BioPosture only comes in one firmness option, which we rate it at a 7 out of 10 (10 being the firmest). The BioPosture feels a little on the firmer side to me, as I am significantly heavier than Kaye, and I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the sturdier support layers in most mattresses.
However, this is not the case with the BioPosture for me. I don’t feel like I am “bottoming out” when pressing through the top comfort layers like I have with other medium firmness mattresses.
The BioPosture really does a great job of supporting my heavier weight (230lbs).
In terms of support, the BioPosture does a really good job of providing excellent support in all sleeping positions. As we are primarily side sleepers, we like mattresses that provide enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
I tend to like softer top layers in a mattress, as my shoulders and hips often don’t feel like they get enough cushion with most firm mattresses, but with the BioPosture they are comfortable and supported well even for being on the firmer side.
Kaye, who likes firmer mattresses generally, feels the BioPosture does a good job of supporting her during the night without being too soft, which is a common complaint for her when sleeping on “universal comfort” firmness foam mattresses.
The BioPosture is deceiving, in that it initially feels rather firm and not as cushioned. However, after sleeping on it for an extended amount of time, we found that our bodies adapted to the mattress and molded to the memory foam without feeling stuck or trapped in the foam.
The BioPosture is both very supportive as well as being a very comfortable mattress, and the premium materials all lend themselves to accomplishing this.
As mentioned above, the BioPosture does a great job at providing support and comfort at the same time, without providing any pressure on joints which some mattresses do.
The all foam construction of the BioPosture and the proprietary foam used provides the classic memory foam hug and body contouring that memory foam is known for, without feeling too stuck.
The BioPosture does a good job at providing a cool sleeping surface via the use of the Celliant® cover.
We felt a small amount of heat retention from the mattress when sleeping at times, which is common for all foam-constructed mattresses in our experience, but it wasn’t bad.
As far as we know, the Celliant® that is used in the cover reduced the heat buildup that most all foam mattresses cause, and even though we did feel some heat at times, it wasn’t nearly as much as other mattresses using all foam in their construction.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The BioPosture does an excellent job with sinkage and motion transfer, especially compared to most mattresses we have reviewed.
As we always preach, sinkage (and motion transfer) is largely weight dependent. The 12″ BioPosture mattress that we received does not cause me to sink at all, which is very surprising given my usual experiences with foam mattresses using cheaper materials.
The fact that I weigh around 230lbs tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress.
Kaye, who is half my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but again this is to be expected due to her much lighter weight.
Edge support is very good with this mattress, and better than most memory foam mattresses we have reviewed. I slept near the edge at time to test this and did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges or having them compressed under my weight.
Motion transfer is also a lot lower than for most memory foam mattresses we have reviewed, as the high density foam layers and firmness of the mattress all work together to isolate movement to a good degree.
Neither Kaye nor myself felt any disruption in our sleep or shaking of the mattress when each other changed positions or got in or out of bed during the night.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The BioPosture gets high marks in this category for not having a noticeable smell upon opening the box. This is a result of the plant-based foam materials that the company uses for the construction of the mattress, which don’t cause odor or off-gassing.
The BioPosture Bio-Memory-Foam carries the CertiPUR-US® seal, and CertiPUR-US® approved foams are:
- Made without ozone depleters
- Made without PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP (“Tris”) flame retardants
- Made without mercury, lead and other heavy metals
- Made without formaldehyde
- Made without phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission
- Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million)
All of these contribute to the almost non-existent odor when unboxing the BioPosture mattress.
BioPosture provides about the standard amount of customer service you can expect in a “Bed In A Box” online mattress retailer. This includes:
- 90 Night Sleep Trial
- Save $100 OR interest free-financing on a BioPosture mattress with code MFT100
- Save $200 on a Kinetic Sleep system using code MFT200
- 10 Year Warranty
- Made in America
- Doctor recommended
- Free Shipping
The BioPosture is priced higher than most mattresses we have tested, but this is also a function of the premium materials used in the construction of the mattress. Coming in at $1397 for a Queen, which is a good price given the quality materials and construction used in this mattress.
The company also offers a complete sleep system called the “Kinetic Sleep System” which offers:
- Choice of a 10″ or 12″ BioPosture Mattress in Queen, King or CA King
- A Leggett & Platt Premium Adjustable Power Bed Base
- Two BioMemory Foam Pillows Of Your Choice
- White Glove Delivery And Set Up Service
The Kinetic Sleep System provides all this at around $2500 off the cost of the individual components.
The BioPosture mattress is an exceptional mattress and one of the highest quality mattresses that we have reviewed. The premium materials used in the design of the BioPosture work together to provide a very comfortable yet supportive mattress that is ideal for all sleeping positions as well as for couples and the company should know, having had them recommended by doctors for over 7 years.
The BioPosture provides the classic memory foam feel of body hug and contour without feeling trapped in the foam like other all foam mattresses, albeit with a bit of trade-off of less responsiveness from the all foam construction and at times for us, a small amount of heat buildup.
The BioPosture really does a good job at minimizing motion transfer and sinkage and is a great choice for couples for this reason as well.
BioPosture delivers very high quality materials and a comfortable mattress on more of the firmer end of the spectrum, but that your body adapts to over time and which offers great support for all sleeping positions.
In addition, their Kinetic Sleep System offers the ultimate in the complete bed setup as well at a great discount over the individual components.
