)Construction and Materials
The SpineAlign hybrid is a 13.5″ pocketed coil and foam hybrid made up of 5 layers:
- 1.5″ Copper Foam Layer – This layer is 1.5″ of Copper Foam designed to be reactive and pressure relieving, highly adaptive and durable. It also transfers heat away from your body and has antibacterial properties for a more comfortable and healthier sleeping environment.
- 2″ ArcticPHASE Foam Layer – This layer is 2″ of ArticPHASE, a breathable gel-infused foam that provides both a soft comfort and dynamic support that traditional memory foams often fail to provide. It will adjust to your body curves, but it also has enough responsiveness and won’t make you feel stuck in foam. This special foam also promotes cooling and works with the copper foam to keep you cool and comfortable all night long.
- 1″ Memory Foam Layer – This layer is 1″ of high-density memory foam designed to minimize motion transfer, increase mattress durability and stability and act as a transitional layer between the upper comfort and lower layers.
- 8″ Pocketed Coils – This layer is made of 8″ of individually pocketed coils that provide active support and pressure relief and excellent edge support as well. This layer also offers enough responsiveness while isolating your movement to minimize sleep disturbance.
- 1″ HD Base Foam Layer – This layer is 1″ of long-lasting HD supportive base foam that acts as a solid and durable foundation for the layers above and boosts the overall support of this mattress.

The cover of the SpineAlign hybrid is soft and durable with a nice pattern that is smooth and pleasant to the touch and contributes to the overall luxurious feel of this mattress.
It is also highly breathable and allows the air to circulate freely through the mattress to create a cool and comfortable sleeping surface.

Firmness & Support
The SpineAlign Hybrid is offered in three firmness options: soft, medium and firm so you can choose what works best for you. The one we have tried is medium-firm mattress and we would say it is around a 6 on the firmness scale (10 being the firmest), so it’s neither too soft nor too firm.
The company rates this mattress in the same way as can be seen from the graphic given bellow that can also be found on their site.

SpineAlign hybrid firmness scale
According to the company, this option is preferred mattress most by sleepers who need to balance contour with support. The multiple layers all work together to provide a level of firmness that perfectly works for all sleeping styles and sleepers of different weights.
Individually pocketed coils and high quality dense foams all work together to promote a correct sleeping posture and provide the right balance of comfort and support.
We are primarily side sleepers and we like mattresses that have enough give in the top comfort layers to cradle our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomach or back.
Most hybrid mattresses feel on the firmer side to me, as I am significantly heavier than Kaye, and I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the support layers. But this wasn’t the case with the 13.5″ thick SpineAlign hybrid mattress.
Comfortable high-density foams in the top comfort layers cradled and cushioned my hips and shoulders to prevent the appearance of pressure points while the 8″ pocketed coil layer bellow supported my heavy weight (230lbs) with ease and stopped me from sinking too deep into the mattress.
The top comfort foam layers provide excellent body hug and contour, while the underlying pocketed coil support layer combined with the dense base layer provide the deep compression support for the body.
Therefore, the high-quality hybrid construction and materials of this mattress offer the amount of support that a heavy sleeper such as myself needs, with the comfort there at the same time that both Kaye and myself prefer as a couple sharing a mattress.

Comfort
The SpineAlign hybrid is extremely comfortable with its 13.5″ thickness and various high-quality dense foam layers on the top which mold and hug your body and provide a comfortable sleeping surface.
These layers combined with the individually pocketed coils do an excellent job of relieving pressure points, isolating movement and supporting correct sleeping posture.
As soon as you lie down on this mattress you will feel the softness and luxuriousness of the cover and top foam layers that gently cradle your body and create a cloud-like feel, while the pocketed coil layer and the firmer foam layer beneath will provide you with a nice lift and support and prevent you from sinking too deep into the mattress and feel enveloped by it.
The hybrid construction of this mattress with the pocketed coil support layer and the layer of the copper foam and gel-infused foam on the top responds and adjusts to your body as you move at night and provides the expected bounce to the mattress which makes it perfect for sex.
We feel the SpineAlign does a great job at providing comfortable sleep in all sleeping positions, and the soft cover only contributes to this and to the overall luxuriousness of this mattress.
Back sleepers and stomach sleepers will also find the this hybrid good for those styles as well, as it is firm enough to provide support and comfort for those sleeping styles without being too soft and causing excessive sinkage.
Therefore, this mattress offers a perfect balance of comfort and support necessary for a correct sleeping posture and a painless and restorative night’s sleep.

Sleeping Hot
This new luxury mattress sleeps incredibly cool due to the copper foam and gel-infused foam layers that promote cooling and transfer heat away from your body.
Being a hybrid, this bed also includes the pocketed coil layer which allow the air to circulate freely through the mattress and aid in cooling.
The use of the copper foam, gel foam layer, and a soft and breathable cover combined with the hybrid coil construction all do a great job of ensuring the mattress sleeps cooler than most mattresses we have reviewed.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The SpineAlign hybrid mattress does an excellent job with sinkage, especially when compared to most other mattresses we have reviewed.
As we always preach, sinkage and motion transfer are largely weight dependent and the fact that I weigh around 230lbs tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress.
I often tend to compress the mattresses quite a bit under my weight and come to rest on their firmer support layers which are often hard and not so comfortable.
But, this wasn’t the case with the SpineAling hybrid mattress. While I compressed its softer top comfort layers to a certain degree, I did not feel the coil layer beneath. In addition, the 8″ pocketed coil layer prevented me from sinking too deep into the mattress and provided me with a nice lift and the feeling of sleeping on top of a mattress rather than inside it.
So, the mattress supported my individual heavy weight and our combined weight with ease and distributed them evenly across the bed.
Edge support is also very good, due to the use of high-quality dense foam layers and durable pocketed coils in the construction of this mattress.
I did not compress the mattress much at all when sitting on the edge and did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges or having them compressed under my weight when sleeping near them.

SpineAlign mattress – profile
Motion transfer is present to a certain degree with this mattress which can be expected from a coil/foam hybrid that provides more bounce than a foam or latex design due to the pocketed coils in its construction.
However, the multiple foam layers used in the construction of this premium mattress limit excessive movement to a large degree and we didn’t feel much disruption or shaking of the mattress when we changed positions or got in and out of the bed during the night.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The SpineAlign hybrid mattress also gets high marks for not having much of a noticeable smell upon opening the box. The hybrid coil / foam construction of this mattress minimized the degree of off-gassing that all foam mattresses usually have.

Summary
The SpineAlign hybrid mattress is a great coil / foam hybrid that provides the benefits of both innerspring and memory foam mattresses all wrapped up with high-quality materials and excellent craftsmanship which makes it truly a luxury hybrid mattress and unlike any other that can be found on the online mattress market these days.
The SpineAlign provides just the right amount of support and comfort to keep your spine properly aligned and provide you with a correct sleeping posture without causing the appearance of pressure points.
There is also an optimal degree of bounce and responsiveness with this mattress coming from the use of the pocketed coils in its construction and copper foam and gel-infused foam layer on top. Although this may cause some motion transfer, there won’t be much of it as the multiple layers of memory foam help minimize movement between sleepers.
It also has minimal sinkage and good edge support and sleeps incredibly cool due to the use of copper and gel-infused foam layer in its comfort layers as well as the pocketed coil layer that increases the airflow through the mattress and helps prevent the build-up of excessive body heat.
So, if you are looking for a luxury and comfortable hybrid mattress, you definitely can’t go wrong choosing the SpineAlign hybrid. It’s a great mattress for couples and all those who like the bounce of innerspring mattresses and the hug and contour of foam.
