Construction and Materials
The SleepOvation is a 12″ pocketed coil and foam hybrid and is unlike any other mattress currently present on the online market.
This mattress doesn’t have layers like other conventional types of mattresses, but is instead constructed of 700 individual layered components.

Each of these components consists of a 8″ premium .078 high carbon steel spring encased in a fabric pocket with 2.25″ x 2.25″ x 3″ rectangular piece of high-density poly foam on the top of it. These little cushions are also encased in a fabric pocket and the company refers to them as “Tiny mattresses”.
Besides this, the company has integrated a removable quilted fire cap that acts like an internal fitted mattress pad, increases the overall comfort of this mattress and completely eliminates the need for an external mattress pad. It also ensures the sleeper is in direct contact with tiny mattresses.

In addition to a removable quilted fire cap, the mattress features a removable, washable cover made from a soft knit blend of polyester and elastane that is designed to maximize the patented technology of this mattress.
The cover has a zipper that goes all the way around the mattress, gives the access to the mattress and has a nice pattern that gives it a beautiful look and makes it nice to the touch.
Firmness & Support
When it comes to the firmness of this mattress, it is not easy to determine how firm it is as it doesn’t fall under the conventional firmness standards of other beds simply because nothing else is like this mattress composed of 700 tiny mattresses!
It’s not super firm, but rather bouncy and sort of springy, and we felt it to be more on the softer side of medium but this is to be expected due to its unique Cushion Pocket Spring technology and construction.
As I have already mentioned, the mattress is composed of hundreds of individually wrapped pocketed coils and hundreds of individually wrapped cushions that are attached to the top of the pocketed coils.
So when you lie down on it, each of these cushions will respond individually to your weight to isolate your body and provide support to those areas where it is needed most and thus correct your sleeping posture.

A nice 12″ thickness of the SleepOvation mattress and its special high-quality pocketed coil and foam construction supported both my heavier 230lb weight and Kaye’s lighter weight with ease.
It is true that we didn’t feel the same amount of comfort because of our weight disparity – As I am a significantly heavier sleeper I sank more into the cushions and relied more on the support of the inner springs than Kaye who is much lighter than me – but this mattress provided us with just a perfect balance of support and comfort that our body types required.
So in terms of support, the SleepOvation mattress does a really good job of providing excellent support in all sleeping positions, with the soft foam cushions on top providing body hug and contour and the underlying pocketed springs providing the deep compression support for the body.
Since Kaye and myself are primarily side sleepers, we like highly rated mattresses that offer enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
This mattress offers a perfect balance of comfort and support and has everything that is necessary for a comfortable sleep in all sleeping positions. It will cradle the natural curves of your body while providing enough firmness necessary for the back’s muscular and bony structures.
Comfort
Most hybrid mattresses are designed to provide the “best of both worlds” feel of the bounce and support of innerspring coils along with the body hug and contour of memory foam, and this is exactly what this mattress provides.
The individual suspension system of this mattress will properly support each bone in your spinal column separately while it will also cradle your body’s curves and provide you with enough comfort necessary for a restful night’s sleep.
We really enjoyed the feel of sleeping on hundreds of tiny mattresses and felt our bodies to be thoroughly supported while we also enjoyed immense comfort and body hug of foam cushions attached to the top of each spring in this mattress.
The SleepOvation does a good job at providing a comfortable sleeping surface, but given the fact that it is a hybrid composed mainly of pocketed coils, it is also buoyant and bouncy which makes it ideal for sex. It offers a good push-back and bounce needed for sex without making you feel trapped in a mattress.
After sleeping on this mattress for a while, we found that our bodies adapted to the mattress and molded to foam cushions without feeling stuck or enveloped by a mattress. The coils helped provide the bounce needed to switch positions during the night and supported my heavy body weight with ease.
The special cooling technology of this mattress also does a great job at preventing the build-up of heat and that “sticky sweaty” feel that some all-foam mattresses tend to cause. It will keep you cool and comfortable all night long and this was something we really appreciated as a couple living in Texas and which is a big plus if you share your bed with a partner.
Sleeping Hot
As we have already mentioned, this mattress sleeps quite cool due to its special cooling technology and unique design.
Thanks to those tiny mattresses within this mattress, there are many air channels between each of these individual tiny mattresses that allow greater airflow through the mattress and offer a cooler sleeping surface.
The individual segments in this mattress work together with the soft and breathable cover to dissipate excessive body heat, prevent sweating and eliminate that sticky sweaty feel present with many other mattresses we have reviewed.
The SleepOvation bed slept much cooler than many other models we have tested and this was a big deal for us. We didn’t wake up feeling hot and sticky during the night, which was something we really were thankful for.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
As for sinkage, there was some amount of sinkage with this mattress coming from its unique Cushion Pocket Spring technology and construction that places it more on the softer side of the medium spectrum.
As we always preach, sinkage and motion transfer are largely weight dependent. The fact that I weigh around 230lbs tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress, which is something that my partner Kaye doesn’t experience.
Because of my heavy weight, I tend to compress most mattresses quite a bit when sitting on the edge or upright in bed. Kaye, being half of my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do.
WithThe SleepOvation mattress, however, this wasn’t a big problem at all due to its thick 12″ design and high-quality coil construction along with foam cushions on top that all work together to minimize the degree of sinkage.
As mentioned, there was some amount of sinkage and I pressed through the cushions to a certain degree, but highest-quality pocketed coils did an excellent job of lifting my weight and preventing me from sinking all the way down through the mattress and come to rest on the foundation of our bed.

If sharing the bed with a partner, you may experience a rolling-off sensation at the edges of this mattress. However, the presence of bounce allows you to move around in bed or easily get in and of it during the night. So, this mattress allows you to comfortably change your positions without making you feel stuck.
However, all those springs within this mattress while isolating your body also tend to cause more motion transfer than some other hybrid beds we have reviewed. So you may feel some motion transfer when your partner gets up or tosses and turns, but it is nothing too serious.
Smell / Off-Gassing
As for smell / off-gassing, there was some smell coming from this mattress due to the use of foam in its construction and the fact that it comes compressed in a plastic package. But it is nothing overwhelming; the smell is non-toxic and will dissipate within a day. All that you need to do is to allow the mattress to breathe in a well-ventilated room for some time.
