Construction and Materials
The Nectar Lush is a 12″ all foam mattress made up of the following layers:
- 3″ Top Comfort Layer – This layer is 3″ of gel-coated memory foam designed to provide amazing pressure relief, softness and a luxurious feel to the top and regulate body temperature and keep you cool throughout the night. The Aquacool core of this layer promotes ultimate cooling and allows you to stay longer in deep sleep.
- 2″ Transition Layer – This layer is 2″ of the special Energex memory foam that acts as a transitional support layer between the upper and lower layers and also provides faster muscle recovery, bounce and responsiveness to the mattress. It facilitates moving around in bed during the night and allows the mattress to stay fresh and new for a long time.
- 7″ Foundation Layer – This layer is 7″ of high density foam that acts as the supportive and stabilizing base for the layers above and and provides durability and deep compression support for the body.

Firmness & Support
The Nectar Lush mattress, just like the previous Nectar mattress, only comes in one firmness option and we rate it at a 6.5 out of 10 (10 being the firmest).
We felt it to be a medium firm mattress, although it was slightly firmer than the original Nectar mattress. Its top comfort layer provided a soft, luxurious feel while the firmer transition and base layers below provided just the right amount of support needed for all sleeping styles and all types of sleepers, even heavier sleepers such as myself (230 lbs).
With many mattresses, since I am a heavier sleeper, I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the support layers which are often harder and not as comfortable.
But, this was not the case with the Nectar Lush mattress. It is true that I compressed the plush top comfort layer quite a bit, but the slightly firmer transition and firm base layer below prevented me from sinking even further into the mattress. They did not cause me to bottom out or feel stuck in foam at all.
Both Kaye and myself felt this bed initially was on the firmer side of the spectrum, but quite comfortable due to the luxurious materials used in the top comfort and transition layers and soft and breathable cover. Over time, however, it breaks in, just like the original Nectar mattress, and adapts to your body and becomes less firm and rather comfortable.

So in terms of support, the Nectar Lush mattress provides excellent support in all sleeping positions and works perfectly for all types of sleepers, even heavier ones due to the dense foam used in the base layer combined with the transition and top comfort layers.
We are primarily side sleepers and we like beds that provide enough give in the top comfort layers to cradle our hips and shoulders and prevent the appearance of pressure points, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomach or back.
The Nectar Lush mattress has it all and provides just the right balance of comfort and support necessary for a comfortable and pain-free night’s sleep.
Comfort
The Nectar Lush mattress is extremely comfortable with its soft and luxurious cover and plush top comfort layer which molds to your hips and shoulders and prevents the appearance of pressure points.
It will contour and cushion to your body and provide you with the feeling of sleeping on clouds, while the slightly firmer transition layer below will slowly transition your body weight into the firm base layer and work perfectly with it to support you and keep your spine properly aligned regardless of your preferred sleeping position.
There is also a nice degree of bounce and responsiveness to this mattress coming from its transition layer made of the special Energex memory foam. It facilitates moving around in bed and getting in and out of it during the night and makes this mattress perfect for sex.

The layers of various foams provide the response needed to switch positions during the night and support my heavy body weight and our combined weights sleeping as a couple with ease, without causing too much movement during the night and interfering with our sleep.
So, this bed is both very supportive and extremely comfortable, and the premium materials all lend themselves to accomplishing this.
Sleeping Hot
The Nectar Lush mattress sleeps incredibly cool due to the unique layer of gel-coated memory foam with Aquacool core. It effectively regulates body temperature, prevents the build up of excessive heat, keeps you cool throughout the whole night and allows you to stay longer in deep sleep.
The soft and breathable cover allows greater airflow through the mattress, draws the heat away from you and aids in cooling.
As a couple living in Texas this is a big deal for us and the Nectar Lush mattress did a great job of preventing the build up of excessive body heat and keeping us cool during the night.
We also didn’t experience that sticky sweaty feel typical of most all foam mattresses, which was something we really were grateful for.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The Nectar Lush mattress does a great job of preventing excessive sinkage and motion transfer.
Like we always tend to mention, sinkage and motion transfer are largerly weight dependent and the fact that I weight considerably more than Kaye, around 230lbs, tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress.
Kaye, who is half my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but again this is to be expected due to her much lighter weight.
I didn’t sink much at all when sitting on the Nectar Lush mattress. It is true that I compressed its top comfort layer quite a bit, but the slightly firmer transition layer and the firm base layer below prevented me from sinking too much into the mattress and feeling enveloped by it.
The responsive transition layer combined with the dense base layer and top comfort layer did a great job of lifting my heavy body weight and our combined weights sleeping as a couple with ease and distributed them evenly across the bed.
Edge support is very good with this bed, and better than with many mattresses we have reviewed. The high density foams used in the construction do a good job at providing even support throughout the mattress, including the edge.

I slept near the edge at times to test this and did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges or having them become compressed under my weight.
As for motion transfer, there is almost no motion transfer with this mattress due to its all foam construction, which is known to offer superior reduction in motion transfer between sleepers moving during the night.
We felt no disruption in our sleep when we changed positions during the night which made for happy sleeping for both of us.
Smell / Off-Gassing
Memory foam mattresses usually have the highest ratings for comfort, durability, and customer satisfaction. One of the only complaints owners have is about memory foam smell.
Luckily, Nectar Sleep gets high marks in this category for creating another mattress that doesn’t have too much of a noticeable smell upon opening the box.
There was markedly less off-gassing and odor with the Nectar Lush that other foam mattresses usually have, which was rather surprising to us given the all foam construction. Any smell that was there dissipated quickly within 24 hours.
