Luxi One Mattress Review
In this review of the Luxi One mattress, we take a look at the company’s new all foam mattress that shares its design and technology with Luxi’s well known, 3-in-1 adjustable mattress. The Luxi one was developed as a non-adjustable mattress at an affordable price to meet those that don’t need all the features of their flagship mattress.

The original Luxi is one of our favorite mattresses, especially for couples, as it allows you to adjust each side of the bed individually so that you and your partner can share a bed with different firmness preferences.

This in-depth review of the Luxi One mattress evaluates all of the criteria we use to determine what constitutes a good mattress, which includes firmness / support, comfort, sleeping hot, and other features as outlined below. Review updated
Construction and Materials
The Luxi One comes in 1 firmness option, also known as a universal comfort model, and is comprised of the following 3 layers totaling 10 1/4″:
- 1″ Comfort Layer – This layer is 1″ of soft LuxiTex foam . This layer helps provide responsive comfort and support for the body during sleep, as well as pressure relief and body hug. The later provides good comfort and body hug without making you feel “trapped in foam”
- 3.5″ Transition Layer – This layer is made up of 3.5″ of the company’s proprietary ‘Shape Matching Technology”, small columns of foam that move independently of each other for excellent body contouring and support. When you lay on the mattress, each column collapses or supports points on your body, providing specific support or comfort depending on the part of the body resting on the SMT columns.
- 5.75″ Support Layer – This layer is 5.75″ of base foam that is designed to provide the overall support to the mattress as well as deep compression support for the body.
The cover of the mattress is a soft breathable poly / viscose blend that is quilted to poly foam to create a soft plush sleeping surface, and contains additional foam quilted into it for additional comfort.
Firmness & Support
The Luxi One is a universal comfort mattress that is designed to appeal to a wide variety of sleepers. We rate it at around a 6 out of 10 (10 being the firmest).
The Luxi One differs from the original Luxi in that you can’t adjust the firmness of the mattress, which is one of the key benefits of the Luxi and what brought it attention and differentiated itself from other mattresses on the market.
Unfortunately the Luxi One doesn’t allow you to customize each side independently, but it still uses the core technology used in the original Luxi with an attempt at satisfying the broader market with a universal comfort model.
In terms of support, the Luxi One mattress does a good job of providing excellent support in all sleeping positions. Since Kaye and myself are primarily side sleepers, we like mattresses that provide enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
Back sleepers and stomach sleepers will also find the Luxi One good for those styles as well, as it is firm enough to provide support and comfort for those sleeping styles without being too soft and causing excessive sinkage.
The various layers of memory foam and Shape Matching Technology (SMT) layers provide a good degree of bounce and responsiveness to the mattress, and even at 10″, the mattress supports heavier sleepers such as myself quite well.
Comfort
We feel that Luxi One is a rather comfortable all foam mattress, with the combination of the foam comfort layers and SMT layer providing a soft upper layer that provides good body hug along with the responsiveness and bounce from the hybrid spring construction.

Luxi One corner view
Both Kaye and I like this mattress, as it provides the comfort and support that we need individually as well as a couple. Often we are at odds when sleeping on many mattresses, as what one of us likes the other less so.
The original Luxi mattress solved this by allowing each side to be customized to the sleeper’s preference, which we actually found over time we really didn’t need as our sleep preferences adapted to each other over time. The Luxi One is thus a great mattress that provides the comfort and support of the original Luxi without the need to pay for the customization aspects.
Sleeping Hot
One thing about mattresses is that they must sleep cool, especially if you share a bed with a partner, and if you are like us – live in a climate like Texas that gets hot during the summer (and sometimes the winter)
The Luxi One mattress does a good job at sleeping cool due to the design and construction of the mattress, which includes the multiple foam layers and the individual Shape Matching Technology (SMT) columns that promote airflow and keep the mattress cool.
As mentioned, not sleeping hot is something that is a must for us – given that we live in Texas and mattresses can get quite hot during the summer, especially when sharing a bed as a couple.
A result of the innovative design of the Luxi One, when sleeping on this mattress we did not get the sticky sweaty feeling that some all-foam mattresses often cause us to feel. While it didn’t sleep as cool as some other mattresses with more advanced cooling technology, the Luxi One mattress also didn’t make us wake up at night sweaty or sticky, which is a plus!
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
As we always say, sinkage and motion transfer is weight dependent – with my heavier weight (230lbs) causing me to often sink down into some mattresses and cause motion when moving around compared to Kaye, who weighs half of what I do.
Due to my heavier weight compared to Kaye (230lbs vs 115lbs), often when I lay on a mattress my weight will cause me to sink down into the bed, and when Kaye lies next to me she “rolls into” me which is something she does not like at all.
As a couple, a mattress that has too much sinkage and motion transfer causes problems for us when sharing a bed, and is something that we commonly have an issue with. The original Luxi is our favorite mattress for couples due to their excellent 9-in-1 customization features, which allows you to customize each side independently, preventing sinkage or motion transfer between couples.
The Luxi One , unfortunately, doesn’t have the same customization features as its sibling, which means that there was a little more motion transfer and some sinkage compared to the original Luxi.
At times, this resulted in us retreating to the edges of the bed away from each other, which doesn’t do much for intimacy or cuddling at night. Not to the extreme that some mattresses cause, but noticeable when you have tried the amazing 9-in-1 Luxi mattress, which as ZERO motion transfer or sinkage.

Luxi One close up corner view
All in all, the Luxi One mattress does a pretty good job at sinkage, with the almost 11 inch mattress supporting my heavier weight, which is something that I often have a problem with when sleeping on competing thinner mattresses.
I did compress through the comfort layers due to my heavy weight and came to rest more on the underlying support layer when adjusting positions. This was a factor when both sitting upright as well as lying on the mattress when sleeping and something that often is the case with thinner mattresses and my heavy weight.
As mentioned, motion transfer was a little more than desired, but that’s mainly in comparison to the original Luxi, which is really exceptional in this regard. If you are used to no movement at all on a foam mattresses, this could be a little bit of a disadvantage, and if that is the case, then you may want to check out the original Luxi mattress.
As far as edge support, when I slept closer to the edge of the bed, I did not compress the edges much, and did not “roll off” the edges like with some mattresses that have poor edge support. This is a plus, and something all foam mattresses do a better job at them competing mattress designs.
We did feel each other move around and get up during the night a little bit, as my heavier weight would move the mattress a small degree when I got up to go to the bathroom in the night, but it wasn’t enough to disturb Kaye as a result.
Smell / Off-Gassing
In terms of smell or off-gassing, the Luxi One mattress is about average for all-foam mattresses, as it didn’t have too much of a smell, but what there was dissipated within the same night that we opened the mattress.
Most foam mattresses experience a degree of off-gassing and odor from being compressed and packaged in plastic for shipping. The Luxi One, while in this same category and prone to this type of smell, wasn’t that bad, and has much less odor than other mattresses.

Summary
The Luxi One mattress is a great all foam mattress and one of the best values on the market for the level of design and craftsmanship in an innovative all foam mattress. Luxi has created an excellent, affordable mattress using their innovative design and materials that is comfortable, supportive, and sleeps cool all at a very attractive price.
The Luxi One is designed as a universal comfort model, which makes it suitable for all sleeping preferences. We found this version great for all sleeping styles, be it side sleeping, back sleeping or stomach sleeping. The mattress is supportive and comfortable, with high quality materials and using the innovative design that Luxi is known for in a more affordable model of their popular 3-in-1 mattress.
While there was a little more motion transfer and sinkage than desired due to it not having the individual customized layers like their flagship model, it wasn’t too much to make it disruptive during sleep for couples.
In addition, the Luxi One sleeps relatively cool as well due to the proprietary Shape Matching Technology (SMT) design, and did not have a noticeable odor either when opening the box.
All in all, we feel the Luxi One is one of the better all-foam mattresses on the market today, especially given its attractive price range.
We hope that this Luxi One mattress review helps you out in your next mattress purchase decision! If you have any questions, feel free to let us know.
