HIBR Mattress Review
Are you a fan of memory foam? Looking for a new memory foam mattress that won’t break the bank? Check out our HIBR mattress review which highlights this innovative memory foam mattress that promises to change the way you sleep.
HIBR launched on Kickstarter with their breakthrough pillow technology in 2014, which received rave reviews and was very well received.
In February 2016, after 14 months in development, they released their patent-pending HIBR mattress with the goal of creating the ultimate sleeping experience.

Construction and Materials
The HIBR mattress is a 11″ all foam mattress made up of 3 layers of foam and patent pending technology.
- 2″ Top Comfort Layer – This layer is 2″ of graphite – gel foam which provides the contour, cooling, and support for the mattress.
- 2″ Middle Support Layer – This layer is 2″ temperature response visco foam to provide support and pressure relief, as well as assist with cooling the mattress.
- 7″ Foundation Layer – This layer is 7″ of base foam that provides support for the mattress as well as deep compression support for the body.
The cover of the HIBR mattress has a nice soft feel and also provides breathability. We especially like the feel of the cover of the HIBR.
Firmness & Support
The HIBR mattress is a universal comfort mattress, and only comes in one firmness option, which we rate it at a 6-7 out of 10 (10 being the firmest).
The HIBR mattress felt firmer to me, as I am significantly heavier than Kaye, at around 230 lbs, and I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the support layers in most mattresses.
This is common, however, with most mattresses for me, but I don’t feel like I am “bottoming out” when pressing through the top comfort layers like I have with other universal firmness mattresses.
As we are primarily side sleepers, we like mattresses that provide enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
The HIBR does a good job supporting both my heavy weight as well as Kaye’s lighter weight.
In terms of support, for me the HIBR mattress does a really good job of providing excellent support in all sleeping positions.
The HIBR mattress is a very comfortable mattress. We are partial to it as we are big fans of memory foam mattresses for the hug and contour they usually offer but that some mattresses don’t get right.
The HIBR memory foam construction does a great job of providing the contour and body hug that we like of traditional memory foam, but without the “stuck” feeling that often happens with all foam mattresses.
The HIBR, being on the firmer spectrum for a memory foam mattress, made responsiveness and moving around during the night much easier than competing foam mattresses.
The HIBR does a very good job at not sleeping hot due to the gel foam construction they utilize to help minimize heat retention.
The HIBR didn’t make us feel sticky or sweaty, which is often a problem for us as a couple with some traditional foam mattresses. Much better than most that we have tried by far.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The HIBR mattress does a good job with sinkage and motion transfer, although at 10″ it does have its limitations just due to the overall thickness. As we always preach, sinkage (and motion transfer) is largely weight dependent.
The fact that I am a heavier sleeper and weigh around 230lbs tends to have a significant bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress.
By contrast, Kaye, who weighs much less than me, tends to experiences much less sinkage than I do.
Edge support is good with the HIBR, which supported my heavier weight quite well when sitting near the edge as well as sleeping near the edge. This is something that often is an issue for me as as larger, heavier sleeper.
There wasn’t a huge degree of motion transfer due for us as a couple, as the foam layers do a good job at minimizing this which is something that we like.
Neither Kaye nor myself felt any big disruption in our sleep or shaking of the mattress when each other changed positions or got in or out of bed during the night.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The HIBR gets high marks in this category for not having a noticeable smell upon opening the box. Most all foam mattresses we have encountered tend to have a decent degree of smell and off-gassing but the HIBR did not.
HIBR provides the standard amount of customer service you can expect in a “Bed In A Box” online mattress retailers, with a 10 year warranty and very friendly customer support.
- 100 Night Sleep Trial
- 10 Year Warranty
- Made in America at their own factory.
- Free Shipping
The HIBR is priced more reasonably than most mattresses we have tested for all the features they offer. Coming in at $875 for a Queen, which is a good price given the quality materials and construction used in this mattress.
The HIBR mattress is a great all foam mattress that does a great job of delivering comfortable, cool, sleep without many of the negative characteristics memory foam mattresses can often have.
The materials, construction and the design of the HIBR all work together to provide a very comfortable yet supportive mattress that is ideal for all sleeping positions as well as for couples.
The HIBR provides the classic memory foam feel of body hug and contour without feeling trapped in the foam like other all foam mattresses, without the sinkage or problems with edge support for heavier sleepers that many other similar mattresses have.
We are very impressed with the quality offered for the price of the HIBR mattress and highly recommend it. Hopefully this HIBR mattress review was helpful in your next mattress purchase.
