DreamCloud UK Mattress Review
In this DreamCloud UK mattress review, we take a look at the luxury hybrid bed that has been making a splash in the United States this past year. DreamCloud Sleep has decided to take their special mattress technology across the ocean by creating a UK version of their amazing DreamCloud hybrid bed.
DreamCloud Sleep is a relatively new company on the online mattress market, but during the last year it has become one of the fastest growing mattress retailers in the USA.
Unlike many other bed-in-a-box mattress companies currently present on the online mattress market it offers an industry leading 365-night sleep guarantee and Forever Warranty – providing a lifetime warranty for their products.
DreamCloud Sleep promises an unparalleled sleeping experience and is designed to meet the needs of European sleepers by combining premium materials with 5 layers in a 29 cm high mattress at an extremely affordable price.
If you like the feel of memory foam with the support and responsiveness of innerspring coils, with super premium materials and craftsmanship, then the DreamCloud UK mattress may be for you.
This in-depth review of the DreamCloud UK mattress evaluates all of the criteria we use to determine what constitutes a good mattress, which includes firmness / support, comfort, sleeping hot, and other features as outlined below. Review updated
Construction and Materials
The DreamCloud UK mattress is 29 cm of premium, supportive memory foams and ActiveEdge coils wrapped in a luxury quilted cooling cover. It consists of the following layers:
- Luxury Quilted Top – This layer is made of phase change materials and combines premium softness with activated cooling technology to regulate your body temperature and keep you cool and comfortable all night long. The top cover is extremely soft and luxurious. It provides comfort and the sumptuousness to the mattress and is something usually found in mattresses costing 3-4x more.
- DreamPlush Memory Foam Layer – This layer is made of a breathable DreamPlush memory foam that provides plush core stability and deep contouring support that adjusts to any sleeping position.
- Supportive Foam Layer – This layer is made of high density super soft foam designed to cradle your body and provide support and it serves as a transition layer between the upper comfort layers and the lower coil support layer.
- 15 cm ActiveEdge Coil Layer – This layer is 15 cm of premium pocketed coils with ActiveEdge technology which provide excellent support across the whole mattress while minimising the amount of motion transfer and maximising the sleeping surface all the way to the edges.
- Supportive Foam Base – This layer is made of high density foam that absorbs motion, provides additional support and acts as the foundation for the foam and pocketed coil layers above.
The cover is double tufted and made of cashmere which creates a luxury feel and is often not found on mattresses costing 2-3x what the DreamCloud UK mattress costs. It is also super soft and breathable and inhibits bedbugs.
Firmness & Support of the DreamCloud UK Mattress
This luxury hybrid mattress is a universal comfort model, which means that it only comes in one firmness option, designed to appeal to a wide range of sleepers.
The company puts it between 5.5-7.5 on a 1-10 scale with 1 being soft and 10 being hard. This is nicely illustrated by the graphic that you can find on their website and that’s given below.
Lying down on it, we personally felt that the DreamCloud UK mattress was around a 6.5 – 7 and it was quite comfortable due to the luxurious materials used in the quilted cover and foam layers.
The DreamCloud UK mattress is designed to provide a perfect long-term comfort and support with the quilted cooling cover, soft top comfort layer and firmer support and coil layers below. The multiple layers all work together to provide a level of firmness that works for sleepers of all different weights, which is something that hybrid mattresses are good at doing.
Most hybrid mattresses feel on the firmer side to me, as I am significantly heavier than Kaye, and I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the support layers in most mattresses. However with the 29cm thick DreamCloud UK mattress, I definitely feel the soft plush top comfort layers and at the same time my heavier weight (230lbs) is supported by the pocketed coil layers.
We are primarily side sleepers and we like mattresses that offer enough give in the top layers to cradle and cushion our shoulders and hips and prevent the appearance of pressure points, while also having the firmness to support our bodies if we switch to our stomach or back. The DreamCloud UK mattress has it all.
The soft quilted top and layers of foam do an excellent job at cradling your body when sleeping on your side. They provide a nice body hug and contour, while the underlying pocketed coil layer provides support needed for back and stomach sleeping.
Due to the high quality hybrid construction and materials, including its incredible 29 cm height, this bed provides the support that a heavy sleeper such as myself needs and enough comfort that both Kaye and myself prefer as a couple sharing the bed.
All in all, the DreamCloud UK hybrid mattress provides amazing comfort and consistent and firm support from edge to edge, and with both ActiveEdge coils and premium supporting memory foams, you truly get the best of both worlds.
The DreamCloud UK mattress is one of the most comfortable hybrid mattresses currently available on the online mattress market and one of the most comfortable beds we have tried out so far, which comes as no surprise as it is one of our top-rated mattresses overall in America.
This is a big statement, given that we have tested over 100 of the leading mattresses on the market. It offers just the right level of firmness, comfort, coolness and breathability to provide you with the best sleeping experience in your life.
Its nice 29 cm thickness combined with breathable memory foam layers and ActiveEdge coils offer a perfect balance of contouring comfort and pushback support.
The top comfort foam layers do an excellent job providing a comfortable sleeping surface that molds and hugs your body. Immediately upon lying down on the mattress you feel enveloped in soft, luxurious, comfort.
There is also a nice degree of bounce to this mattress coming from its hybrid construction and the use of the highest quality pocketed springs. This facilitates changing positions and getting in and out of bed during the night and makes this mattress perfect for sex.
This mattress is both very supportive as well as being a very comfortable, and the premium materials all lend themselves to accomplishing this at a very attractive price that is hard to beat for a 29 cm thick mattress with this many features.
This mattress does an excellent job of sleeping cool due to the enhanced breathability of the foams used in its construction and the pocketed coil layer which by design provides good airflow and discourages heat retention.
Perfectly spaced coils allow the air to circulate freely through the mattress while allowing heat to escape. Combined with DreamCloud’s other cooling technology, you can rest assured that you will never sleep hot with the DreamCloud UK mattress.
Sleeping hot was a big issue for us as a couple living in Texas (for those of you in the UK, it is HOT down here!), but this mattress did an excellent job of keeping us cool throughout the whole night.
Its special cooling technology prevented the build-up of heat and sweating and it totally eliminated that sticky, sweaty feeling usually present with all foam mattresses and with hybrid mattresses using foam in their construction. This was something we really were thankful for.
This certainly won’t be a problem in the U.K., but for those sleeping hot, you can be sure that you won’t sweat at night with a DreamCloud.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The DreamCloud UK mattress does an excellent job with sinkage, especially compared to most we have reviewed.
As we always tend to mention, sinkage and motion transfer are largely weight dependent. The fact that I weigh around 140kg tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress.
Kaye, who is half my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but again this is to be expected due to her much lighter weight.
Because of my heavy weight, I often compress the top comfort layers of most mattresses quite a bit and come to rest on the support and coil layers beneath which are firm and not so comfortable. However, this wasn’t the case with the DreamCloud UK mattress.
While I compressed the soft quilted cover and top comfort layer to a certain degree, the firmer support and pocketed coil layer below prevented me from sinking even further into the mattress and feeling enveloped by it. I also didn’t feel any discomfort or pain in my shoulders and hips.
The nice 29 cm thickness of this mattress combined with the highest quality durable foam layers and pocketed coil system do an excellent job at preventing sinkage.
Edge support is also excellent with this mattress due to the use of special ActiveEdge coils which provide consistent and firm support from edge to edge. Unlike some spring mattresses which sag or low quality foam mattresses that don’t hold their shape, this hybrid mattress from Brentwood Home will retain its original shape for many years.
I did not compress the mattress much at all when sitting or sleeping near the the edge. I also did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges or having them compressed under my weight.
As for motion transfer, there is a small amount of it, as to be expected with a hybrid coil mattress which provides more bounce than a foam mattress due to the use of innerspring coils in its construction. The multiple foam layers used in the construction of this premium mattress and the individually pocketed coils limit excessive movement to a large degree.
We didn’t feel much disruption or shaking of the mattress when we got in and out of the bed and when we moved around, which is often to be expected from the hybrid coil construction of these types of mattresses which are more responsive and thus bouncier.
Smell / Off-Gassing
This mattress also gets high marks in this category for not having too much of a noticeable smell upon opening the box. The hybrid coil / foam construction of the DreamCloud UK mattress minimized the degree of off-gassing that all foam mattresses usually have. Any smell that was present dissipated very quickly, withing a few hours.
DreamCloud Sleep offers much more than the standard services that most bed-in-a-box online mattress companies are offering these days, which is something that really sets the company and this mattress apart from the rest. This includes the following:

The company is really looking to go above and beyond for the customer to deliver a premium experience with purchasing their mattress that is over and above any other similar mattresses sold online.
The DreamCloud UK mattress is more than a reasonably priced, coming in at £1049 for a King. This is a great price given the quality materials used in the construction of this mattress and the overall comfort and luxuriousness that it offers.
The DreamCloud UK hybrid mattress is an amazing new hybrid coil / foam mattress that provides the benefits of both worlds of innerspring and memory foam.
Its extraordinary 29 cm thick design combines high quality foams with a unique ActiveEdge pocketed coil system for incredible comfort and support.
There is a perfect balance of pressure relieving comfort and support coming from the soft quilted cover combined with dense foam layers and special pocketed coils which makes this mattress ideal for all sleeping styles and all types of sleepers.
The DreamCloud UK provides a nice degree of bounce and responsiveness from the coil hybrid design which facilitates moving around in bed and getting in and out of bed during the night and makes this mattress perfect for sex.
Although this may cause some motion transfer there isn’t much of it due to the multiple layers of memory foam used in the layers that help minimize movement between sleepers.
This mattress also has minimal sinkage and features the special edge support system which extends the sleeping surface of the bed and allows sleepers to lay securely close to the edge of the bed.
In addition, it sleeps incredibly cool due to the use of breathable cover and foam layers as well as the ActiveEdge coils positioned in such way to allow the air to circulate freely through the mattress and regulate temperature.
All in all, we are fully satisfied with how well the DreamCloud UK mattress worked for us and, like we have already mentioned the American version of this mattress is one of our top picks for the best hybrid mattress and one of our top overall picks as well.
If you are looking for a premium foam / coil hybrid mattress, and live in the U.K., you can’t go wrong choosing this mattress. Hopefully our DreamCloud UK mattress review has provided you with helpful information that may assist you in your next purchase decision. If you have any questions, feel free to let us know!
