Construction and Materials

The Blello mattress is a 10″ all foam mattress made up of 3 layers of various foams:

  • 1.5″ responsive top comfort layer – This layer is made up of 1.5″ of the brand’s proprietary Serene foam designed to conform to your body without trapping heat. It controls motion transfer and reduces pressure points, but also responds pretty quickly to prevent you from sinking too far into the bed.
  • 2.5″ transition layer – This layer is made of 2.5″ of eco-friendly, hypo-allergenic and 100% recyclable Qualatex Foam, which is a latex-like material designed to add some bounce to the mattress and prevent the appearance of sunken spots. It works as a transition layer between the upper, soft comfort layer and a firmer base and provides a sleeper with the right amount of support and a pleasant lift and aids in dissipating body heat.
  • 6″ foundation layer – This layer is made of 6″ of high-density, supportive polyfoam that serves as the foundation for the bed and provides the sleepers with a nice deep compression support.

The cover of the Blello mattress is a stretchy and durable three-layer ticking fabric specifically designed to add to the overall comfort of the mattress. The cover can also be removed and washed if needed.

It uses a combination of different fabric textures and various yarns that wick away moisture and allow greater airflow through the mattress while its stretchable surface helps in supporting your body properly.

Firmness & Support

The Blello mattress is a universal comfort model designed to appeal to a wide range of sleepers with different sleep preferences and according to the company, falls between a 4 and a 6 on a firmness scale (10 being the firmest) as can be seen from the graphic given below that you can find on the company’s website.

We personally felt this mattress to be around a 6 (out of 10, 10 being firmest) in terms of firmness, and we would best describe its support as balanced which means that it gives you just the right amount of support without being too firm.

The top comfort layer of the Blello provides you with a soft, luxurious feel while its underlying support layers provides you with a firmer support layer below.

The combination of various foams in its construction work together to create a pressure relieving surface that evenly distributes your weight across the bed, and and is soft enough to cradle your body in any sleeping position but that also offers necessary support to keep your spine properly aligned.

The multiple layers of this mattress have the firmness necessary to keep you from sinking too much into the mattress, yet being still soft enough to contour to your body and prevent the appearance of pressure points.

With many mattresses, since I’m a heavier sleeper (230 lbs), I tend to press through the top comfort layers and feel more of the support layers beneath which are often harder and not as comfortable. But, this wasn’t the case with the Blello.

Given that it is a 10″ mattress, I did compress the top comfort layer to a certain degree, but its 2.5″ latex-like layer works as a transition layer between the upper soft comfort layer and the firmer base below which stopped me from sinking too much into the mattress and provided me with a good degree of lift and support.

Both Kaye and I felt that Blello does a great job of providing support for all sleeping positions, especially side sleeping as we are primarily side sleepers. It has enough give in the top comfort layer to support and cradle our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness needed if we switch to our stomachs or backs.

Comfort

The Blello mattress is quite comfortable, with its top comfort layer made of Serene foam designed to conform to your body and provide a comfortable and cool sleeping environment.

This layer combined with the Qualatex foam layer works to provide enough bounce and responsiveness needed to switch positions during the night and support my body weight with ease without causing too much motion transfer.

The Blello mattress offers a great sleep environment due to the three layers of foam which combine to provide excellent pressure relief, good temperature regulation and responsiveness without causing the feeling of “sinking into a hole” or being stuck into foam typical of most memory foam mattresses.

The Blello is a great choice if you are looking for a mattress that is comfortable no matter which sleeping position you prefer. It is designed to suit sleepers of all shapes, sizes, and weights and provided you with both great comfort and ultimate support necessary for a quality and restful sleep experience.

Sleeping Hot

The Blello mattress does a good job of not sleeping hot due to the use of Serene and Qualatex foams in the two comfort layers. These foams don’t retain heat like traditional memory foam and disperse body heat instead of holding it.

These foams are a perfect alternative to memory foam in that they will conform to your body, reduce pressure on critical parts of your body, and stay cool throughout the whole night. As a couple living in Texas, this is a big deal for us.

The Blello mattress prevented the build-up of heat and sweating during the night. We did not experience the sticky feeling that we often do with foam mattresses in the least bit which was something we really were thankful for.

A breathable cover of this mattress, made of different fabric textures and various yarns wicks away moisture, allows greater airflow through the mattress and aids in cooling.

Sinkage & Motion Transfer

The Blello mattress, despite its medium firmness and 10″ thickness, does a good job with minimizing sinkage, especially when compared to other similar mattresses we have reviewed.

As we always preach, sinkage and motion transfer are largely weight dependent. I weigh around 230 lbs and I tend to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress. Kaye, who is half my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but this is to be expected due to her lighter weight.

As I have already mentioned, the Blello does a pretty good job with minimizing sinkage and it supported my heavy weight pretty well and distributed it evenly across the bed.

I did compress the top comfort layer made of Serene foam quite a bit, but the firmer latex-like layer below prevented me from sinking too much into the mattress and reaching the foundation of our bed.

Edge support is good with this mattress too, and it is better than in most other 10-inch all foam mattresses we have reviewed. The high density foam used in the base of this mattress, combined with the bouncy and responsive Qualatex foam and the stretchy and durable three-layer ticking cover, does a good job at preventing excessive sinkage and providing even support throughout the mattress, including the edge.

I slept near the edge at times to test this and did not experience feeling of “rolling off” the edges or having them become compressed under my weight.

This all foam mattress also does a good job of minimizing motion transfer, making the possibility of disturbing your partner during the night much less than many other mattresses.

The three layers of different foams used in the construction of this bed absorbed our movements rather well, and Kaye felt no disruption in her sleep when we changed positions during the night which made for happy sleeping for both of us.

Smell / Off-Gassing

Like most all foam mattresses that come compressed in a plastic package, the Blello mattress may give off some slight fumes during the unpacking process. This is entirely normal and it is nothing to be alarmed at.

The Blello mattress is constructed in the United States and made entirely of the highest-quality, certified materials so you can be sure that it contains no harmful chemicals or substances. Any smell you encounter will be minimal and it will dissipate within a few hours.

Summary

The Blello mattress is one of the better all foam mattresses we have recently reviewed recently. It offers a balanced, medium-firm feel capable of meeting everyone’s needs and sleep preferences and combines three layers of various highest-quality foams and a soft, stretchy and durable cover to create a cool, comfortable and supportive sleeping surface suitable for all sleeping styles.

It offers that classic memory foam feel of body hug and contouring without causing you to sink too much into a mattress and feel enveloped by foam. In addition, it has excellent edge support and it doesn’t cause excessive motion transfer when changing positions or getting in and out of bed during the night.

The Blello doesn’t sleep as warm as many all – foam mattresses and has a nice degree of bounce and responsiveness coming from its Qualatex layer and responsive top comfort layer which facilitates moving around in bed and makes this mattress ideal for couples and their late night’s activities (sex).

So, if you are looking for a comfortable, supportive and cool sleeping mattress made of certified, highest-quality materials that will not cost you a fortune, the Blello mattress may be the right choice for you.

We feel that the team behind Blello really got things right and has created an extraordinary mattress that delivers excellent comfort and support at a price that can’t be beat, and we hope this review will help you in your next purchase decision!
