Construction / Materials
The Bear Pro mattress is a 12″ thick all foam mattress made up of 4 layers of various foams all wrapped up in a Celliant cover.
- 1″ Copper-infused Foam Layer – This layer is made of 1″ copper-infused memory foam, designed to provide cooling and comfort. It has a slow response to pressure and provides extraordinary body contour and pressure relief. In addition, the antibacterial properties of copper create a super clean and fresh feel that speeds up the process of muscle recovery and rejuvenating.
- 1.5″ Gel Memory Foam Layer – This layer is made of 1.5″ gel memory foam which prevents the build-up of excessive body heat and provides cooling, extra contour and pressure relief.
- 2.5″ Responsive Transition Foam Layer – This layer is 2.5″ of a responsive poly foam that serves as a transition layer between the softer top comfort layers and a firmer base layer below.
- 7″ High-Density Support Foam Layer – This layer is made of 7″ of a high-density poly foam which gives the bed stability and durability, serves as a foundation for the layers above and provides deep compression support.
Bear Pro mattress layers
The Cover of the Bear Pro mattress is made of polyester and Celliant, just like the covers of the previous two mattresses that we have reviewed. It provides a soft sleeping surface and conveys the many benefits that Celliant is designed to provide.
Celliant converts body heat into infrared light, which has been shown in a number of studies to increase the oxygenation of blood in the body which results in decreased temperature, reduced muscle pain, and increased recovery time.

The inclusion of Celliant in the Bear Pro mattress is why this mattress is targeted towards the athletic and active lifestyle market, and it does a great job in this regard.
Firmness & Support
The new Bear Pro is a universal comfort model which means that it is designed to appeal to a wide range of sleepers with different sleep preferences.
We felt that the Bear Pro was around a 6,5 on the firmness scale (10 being the firmest). Bear has their own firmness scale on their site and they rate this mattress a little softer, in a range you can see below.

The combination of copper-infused memory foam, gel foam, responsive foam and high density foam in the comfort, transition and support layers provides a universal medium-firm feel and an ideal balance of comfort and support suitable for all sleeping styles and all types of sleepers, particularly side sleepers.
We are generally side sleepers and we felt that this mattress worked perfectly for us. The softer top comfort layers cradled our bodies and molded to our hips and shoulders to relieve pressure points and eliminate any other kind of discomfort.
The Bear Pro provides that classic memory foam hug and contour and allowed us to sink into them to a certain degree for extraordinary comfort and pressure relief, while the somewhat firmer transition layer and firm base layer below provided enough support needed to keep our spines properly aligned.

The responsive foam used in the transition layer and the high-density foam in the base layer prevented us from sinking too far down into the mattress, lifted my heavy weight (230 lbs) and our combined weight as a couple with ease and distributed them evenly across thee bed.
As a heavier sleeper, with many universal comfort memory foam mattresses, I often tend to compress through the thinner top comfort layers and feel the underlying foundation layers which are a lot firmer and not so comfortable, but this was not the case with the Bear Pro.
I compressed the top comfort layers to a certain degree, but the slightly firmer transition layer below transitioned my body weight slowly into the dense base layer and provided it with excellent support so I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort in my hips and shoulders.
Comfort
The Bear Pro is an extremely comfortable mattress with the copper infused memory foam, which provides gentle pressure relief, cooling and cleanliness, and gel memory foam, which provides extra cradling and works perfectly with the Celliant cover and copper-infused memory foam to keep you cool and comfortable all night long regardless of the position you chose to sleep in.
The combination of the copper-infused memory foam, gel foam and responsive foam used in the transition layer really made for a comfortable sleeping surface when changing positions.
We did not feel stuck in the foam and the mattress allowed us to quickly change positions or get in and out of bed during the night.
The Bear Pro also offers a good amount of bounce due to the responsive foam layer, which is especially beneficial couples and their late-night amorous activities (sex) 😉
In addition, a soft Celliant cover also seemed to reduce any aches and pains that I sometimes experience during the night due to back and shoulder injuries, and made a big difference.
Sleeping Hot
The Bear Pro mattress sleeps incredibly cool due to the use of the copper-infused memory foam known for its cooling properties and gel memory foam, which works together with the copper foam to dissipate excessive body heat and keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night.
Besides this, the Celliant cover of this mattress is highly breathable and it allows the air to circulate freely through the mattress and aids in cooling. So, the Bear Pro gets high marks in this category for not sleeping hot at all.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
As for sinkage and motion transfer, there was some amount of sinkage with the Bear Pro mattress which was mostly due to my heavy weight which compressed the soft top comfort layers quite a bit, but there was not so much sinkage at all when compared to other lower quality all foam mattresses that we have reviewed here.
It is true that the softer copper-infused memory foam layer and gel foam layer allowed my body to sink into them to a certain degree, but the slightly firmer transition layer below and a firm base layer lifted my heavy weight and our weights combined as a couple with ease and prevented me from bottoming out and reaching the foundation of our bed, particularly when sitting upright in bed or near the edges.

When sitting up or near the edge, I compressed the mattress a fair amount as well, but when lying prone on the bed during the night, the mattress did a good job and supporting my body evenly.
As for motion transfer, there is almost no motion transfer with this mattress due to its all foam construction and the use of memory foam in its top comfort layers known for its ability to reduce motion transfer, so you don’t have to worry that your tossing and turning during the night will disturb the sleep of your partner or vice versa.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The Bear Pro mattress, just like its predecessors, had minimal amounts of off-gassing when we unboxed it, which is above average compared to the other mattresses we have reviewed. Any smell that was present quickly dissipated and it didn’t interfere with our sleep.

The Bear is pretty reasonably priced, coming in at $1050 for a Queen, which is an excellent price given the quality materials and technology used in the construction of this mattress and all the comfort and luxuriousness that it provides.

Summary
