Addable Mattress Review
Our Addable mattress review highlights this affordable gel memory foam mattress that uses high quality materials to deliver a good mattress at a great price.
The makers of the Addable mattress set out to make a better mattress for less money than the competitors without sacrificing quality or cutting corners.

Addable was created by the owners of Spindle, 4th generation mattress makers who know a thing or two about crafting a great mattress. Spindle is one of the best 100% latex mattresses on the market, and another of our favorites.

Construction and Materials
The Addable mattress is a 10″ gel memory foam mattress that is made up of the following layers.
- 2″ Top Comfort Layer – This layer is 2″ of 4lb. gel infused memory foam that provides comfort and cooling.
- 2″ Support Layer – This layer is 2″ of 1.8lb HD poly foam which provides support and works with the top comfort layer to provide transitional support.
- 6″ Foundation Layer – This layer is 6″ of 2lb HR Poly base foam that provides support for the mattress as well as deep compression support for the body.

The cover of the Addable mattress is made up of polyester and viscose, and is a two-tone purple and white pattern with a very comfortable exterior that aids in the comfort of the mattress.

Firmness & Support
We would rate the Addable around a 5-6 on the firmness scale (10 being firmest). The Addable felt a little on the softer side to us, but not to the degree that we felt we sunk down into it or felt trapped like some softer memory foam mattress do.
The gel memory foam and poly foam construction does a good job at providing support for your body without feeling like you sink in a hole from the softer foam.
At 230lbs, I tend to have a problem with some memory foam mattresses providing enough support for my larger frame or that can feel too firm as I press through the top comfort layers. This is not the case with the Addable, however.

Addable corner view
Kaye doesn’t have this problem, as she weighs half what I do, so it was nice to have a mattress that provided us both with support for our respective body weights.
I don’t feel like I am “bottoming out” when pressing through the top comfort layers like I have with other soft / medium firmness memory foam mattresses, which is not what I expected from a 10″ mattress.
This all foam mattress does a really good job of providing excellent support in all sleeping positions. As we are primarily side sleepers, we like mattresses that provide enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
The Addable definitely provided the support for our shoulders and hips without being too soft and causing pain from improper spinal alignment when sleeping on our sides.
Comfort
The Addable mattress we reviewed has that classic memory foam feel of “sleeping in” the mattress as opposed to “sleeping on top” of the mattress which other latex hybrids or latex mattresses feel like.
Personally, we like the feel of memory foam and the hug and body contour it provides, so the Addable felt very comfortable to us. It felt good to me, especially for my larger size, without making me feel like I was trapped in foam.

Addable close up
The Addable mattress is both very supportive as well as being a very comfortable mattress, and the gel foam materials and construction all lend themselves to accomplishing this.
Sleeping Hot
We didn’t really feel too much heat buildup from the Addable to a large degree, but there was a little heat at times when sleeping together as a couple.
This is common for all foam mattresses, and even with the gel foam top layer, the Addable had a small amount of heat when we were together under the covers. Nothing too bad, however.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The Addable bed had a moderate amount of sinkage, primarily for me as a heavier sleeper. As we always preach, sinkage (and motion transfer) is largely weight dependent and plays a big part in how mattresses respond to both my individual and our combined weight.
The fact that I weigh around 230lbs tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on a mattress. When we review mattresses such as the Addable, this is one of the important tests, but we were impressed with the results.
Kaye, who is half my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but again this is to be expected due to her much lighter weight.

Addable profile, 10″ high
The Addable mattress overall did not excessively sink under my weight, and I did not “bottom out” when sitting on it like I do with other mattresses this size which surprised me.
Edge support is pretty good with this mattress, and about the same as most memory foam mattresses we have reviewed. I slept near the edge at time to test this and did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges, but did experience some edge compression when sitting on the edge due to my weight.
Motion transfer was actually minimal as well, as it did not cause us to feel each other’s movement during the night to much degree.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The Addable mattress we reviewed did not have too much of a noticeable smell upon opening the box. Any smell that was present dissipated rather quickly.

Summary
The Addable mattress is a well designed and constructed mattress and a good value for the money. While not possessing any super high tech innovations, the makers of this mattress did a great job delivering a quality all foam mattress at an unheard of price.
Heavier sleepers and couples are supported well by this model, without causing the “trapped in foam” sensation common to many cheaper memory foam mattresses. The Addable provides good support for all sleeping positions, and is quite comfortable.
This mattress sleeps relatively cool and is a good choice for couples sharing a bed as well, even with the moderate sinkage by the softer feel. All in all, the Addable is a great mattress for the money and definitely delivers a quality product for a low price. One of our top picks for all foam mattresses at this price point for sure!
