Nolah AirFiber Pillow Review

We are back with another pillow review. This time again we take a look at one of the Nolah pillows or to be more precise at the Nolah AirFiber pillow.

The previous Nolah pillow we have reviewed is an all foam pillow, entirely made of one block of the proprietary Nolah AirFoam, and although all foam pillows are great, they may not be for everyone. For those seeking a softer, cloud-like experience, Nolah company has created a luxurious down-alternative pillow made from silky-soft and lofty AirFiber filling that can perfectly work for a wide range of sleepers with different sleep preferences.

This pillow offers the same quality as the Nolah AirFoam pillow, but with a plusher and more luxurious feel. It offers cloud-like softness and can be shaped to fit any head position.

Let’s take a closer look at it to see what it is constructed from, how comfortable it is, what other benefits it offers and whether it can meet all of your unique needs and sleep preferences.

Construction & Materials

This Nolah pillow, like the previous one we have reviewed, is offered in one standard dimension which is 20″ x 30″ and is filled with a down-alternative, silky-soft and lofty AirFiber which is designed to be fluffy and shapeable.

Unlike the Nolah AirFoam pillow that is made of one flat block of foam, this pillow is filled with a soft proprietary Nolah AirFiber fill which is a down alternative that feels really fluffy while offering you an opportunity to manipulate it to provide you with enough support necessary to keep your cervical spine in alignment with the rest of your body.

Besides this, the pillow is wrapped in a high-tech cooling phase-change Outlast cotton cover which gives it a beautiful look and helps the pillow breathe easier and stay cool throughout the whole night.

Comfort

The fiber combination of this pillow provides a very soft and fine feeling. It creates the down like feel and has all pressure relieving benefits of memory foam.

The pillow is more on the softer side and allows your head to sink deeper than memory foam. The fill is light and fluffy and can be flattened, folded or bunched into the shape that will provide you with excellent support in all sleeping positions.

This pillow is a perfect blend of softness and support, and what Andrew and I really like about it is that it has this fluffy feel and good support while it allows us to move the fill around, depending on what position we sleep in. So, although it is not adjustable (you can’t open the pillow and remove the filling to reach the desired amount), you can manipulate the filling to create the feel and support you need.

Because of the nature of the Nolah AirFibers, the filling may go flat after some time of sleeping on the pillow and all you need to do is to fluff it a little bit and it will quickly regain its original shape.

Although it may not have such cooling features like the Nolah AirFoam pillow, and although it may not offer contouring support of memory foam, its foldable and partly adjustable nature allows you to adjust it to support the unique curves of your body.

Regardless of the lack of special cooling technology, the cooling phase-change Outlast cotton cover helps the pillow breathe easier,  keeps the pillow surface cool to the touch and prevents the retention of excessive body heat.

The Nolah AirFiber pillow is designed to suit all types of sleepers, though stomach sleepers might benefit most from it. It is fluffy and soft and doesn’t offer too much loft which makes it ideal for stomach sleepers. It can be easily flattened to keep their heads and necks in a neutral position and in alignment with the rest of their bodies.

Although it felt the most comfortable when sleeping on our stomachs, it wasn’t bad for back and side sleeping too. We could easily fold it and adjust it to the shape necessary to provide us with the amount of support we needed for any sleeping position.

We are primarily side sleepers, and although it was quite comfortable when sleeping on our sides, at times we felt the need to put our arms beneath the pillow for additional support.
