Aloha Sleep Mattress Review
Our Aloha Sleep mattress review takes a look at this new entry into the online mattress space from industry veteran Nest Bedding, who created the Aloha to provide an excellent bed at a great price with the longest sleep term and best warranty in the market.
The Aloha Sleep was created to compete against other affordable mattresses on the market with extended warranties but with the difference being made in the USA!
Nest Bedding is not your typical online mattress company. The company has several retail stores serving the Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York markets and has expanded into online sales as well.
So read on to see what we think about the new Aloha Sleep mattress after sleeping on it for the past few weeks!
Construction / Materials
The Aloha mattress is a 11″ thick memory foam mattress made up of 3 layers of foam.
- 2″ Top comfort layer – this is 2″ of Serene foam that provides the comfort and initial support for the body during rest.
- 2″ Middle support layer – This layer is made of 2″ transition foam that provides responsive support and a transition layer between the upper and lower layers of the mattress.
- 7″ Bottom comfort layer – This layer is made of 7″ support base foam and provides a solid foundation for the Aloha Sleep mattress and provides deep compression support for the body.
The Aloha Sleep mattress has a cover that has cooling phase change fabric on top (Aloha Cooling Fabric) that helps keep it nice and cool, and also quilted with foam which provides a soft and comfortable sleeping surface with the benefit of increased padding quilted in the cover.
Firmness & Support
The Aloha Sleep mattress is a universal comfort mattress, with just one firmness option that is designed to appeal to a wide variety of sleepers. We feel the Aloha is around a 6.5 out of 10 (10 being firmest), with the mattress providing good support and overall comfort.
As a heavier sleeper than Kaye, I felt the Aloha Sleep mattress was a little on the firmer side, which is often the case due to my 230lb weight compressing through the softer comfort layers of most mattresses. She felt it was just right, at half my weight, which is how things usually feel between us for most mattresses.
Support is very good with the Aloha Sleep mattress, as the 11″ design provides enough plushness and comfort without being too soft or causing me to “sink” down into the foam and for Kaye to roll into me, which is often a complaint we have.
We are big fans of mattresses that are comfortable and supportive and that support both of our different weights on the same mattress.
As primarily side sleepers, the Aloha Sleep does a great job at providing support yet comfort without making my shoulders and hips fall asleep which some firmer mattresses do.
The Aloha is a rather comfortable mattress, with the quilted foam cover with the Aloha Cooling Fabric and Serene foam construction providing a comfortable night sleep in all sleeping positions.
The combination of Serene foam and the quilted cover make a very comfortable sleeping surface, which also helps the mattress stay cool.
As mentioned above, the Aloha provides great support but not at the expense of comfort for side sleepers such as us, which helps prevent pain and discomfort.
The 11″ thick mattress also prevents sinkage and compression down into the foam, which is often the case with many other memory foam mattresses.
The Aloha Sleep does a good job at sleeping cool, which is something that is one of our key evaluation criteria. All foam beds often cause us to sweat and overheat, but the Aloha Sleep mattress does an excellent job at preventing this.
The Aloha uses a unique Aloha Cooling Fabric phase change material in the top cover, which helps you remain cool when you’re hot, and vice versa. We have experienced this phase change material in other mattresses, and it most definitely works.
We woke up hot a few times, but that most likely was from the “sleep testing” of the mattress instead of the bed itself 😉
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
There was a minimal amount of sinkage with the Aloha Sleep mattress, which is a great thing. As we preach over and over, sinkage is primarily a function of sleeper weight and how well the mattress supports it.
With my 230lb weight, it often makes me sink into mattresses more than Kaye, who is half my weight. However, the 11″ Aloha has a very thick 7″ support layer which does an excellent job at preventing sinkage.
One of our pet peeves is when Kaye “sinks in the hole” caused by my heavier weight, which lesser quality mattresses often cause. Not so with the Aloha!
As for motion transfer, we found a minimal amount of motion transfer between us during moving around during the night. The all foam construction helps minimize this, which is a welcome benefit for couples sharing an Aloha.
This is an important factor for us, as excessive movement from our mattress causes sleep disruptions for both of us.
Smell / Off-Gassing
The Aloha Sleep mattress had minimal amounts of off-gassing when we unboxed it, which is above average compared to the other mattresses we have reviewed.
Nest redesigned their entire mattress line and made improvements in this area as we found with our review of the Alexander Signature Series mattress and other beds, and the Aloha also benefited from this – as there was minimal smell and anything that was present dissipated quickly.
This is where Aloha Sleep really sets itself apart from the rest of the“Bed In A Box” online mattress retailers. Nest Bedding set out to exceed all other mattress companies on the market with an affordable mattress with unbeatable warranty and sleep trial period.

The Aloha Sleep is a great mattress at a great price with the longest sleep trial in the market and corresponding lifetime warranty. As with all products from Nest Bedding, the design, materials, and construction are all very high quality.
The combination of Serene foam and quilted comfort layer with the Aloha Cooling Fabric phase change material on top provides excellent cooling and comfort to the mattress.
In addition, the Aloha Sleep mattress doesn’t cause excessive sinkage or feeling of being trapped in memory foam without having to utilize latex in the construction of the mattress.
The industry leading 500 night sleep trial, forever warranty, made in the USA construction, and excellent price all combine to make the Aloha Sleep another great mattress to come from Nest Bedding.
